The idea of forming Rotary Club of Belur was first born in the year 1965 in the mind of Rtn Mihir Roy who had attended a social fellowship at Belur, hosted by Rotary Club of Howrah.
On 14th January,1967, the provisional Rotary Club of Belur was inaugurated by the then serving DG Rtn K.N Mukherjee with 30 Charter Members & Rtn M.L Agarwal as Founder President & Rtn Binoy Bose as Secretary. The area was restricted to adjoining territory of Belur initially but with the dilution of territorial jurisdiction the club extended its membership domain & now comprises members from North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas, Central Kolkata, Alipore, Salt lake & all over kolkata. The Club had been admitted into the membership of Rotary International on the 16th June 1967. From that day the club became a regular constitutional autonomous body under Rotary International.
The venue of the club meeting was originally Railway Officers Club,Howrah then shifted to ILACO House,Brabourne Road,Calcutta & finally to Hotel Hindusthan International,Kolkata in keeping with the trend.

Awards Galore!
The District 3291 Awards event for the year 2019-20 was held on 28th June 2020 at Haldiram Banquets observing the necessary restrictions due to the prevalent pandemic. It may have lacked the normal razzle dazzle generally associated with it, nevertheless had all the ingredients that go into making an event memorable. We are thankful to District Governor Ajay Agarwal, 1st Lady Mamta Agarwal, Award Chair PDG Raju Rajgharia, our Mentor PDG Ravi Sehgal and all the Seniors for always being our guiding force.
An awards event is the perfect platform for celebrating milestones and individual club achievements and most clubs look forward to it with great enthusiasm. President Rtn Ramesh Tiwari ably supported by his competent Secretary Rtn. Indra Goenka had over the year worked hard to take our club to probably its highest crest in its long history in almost all aspect. He and his team had worked tirelessly right from the hosting of DTA in May last year, again during the District Conference to the various club projects and events till advent of the pandemic put the brakes on quite abruptly.
No wonder they came back all smiles loaded with countless awards and recognitions. The euphoria that set in thereafter hasn’t been experienced for long time as the happiness of club members knew no bounds. More so for the coveted Best Club Trophy had been awarded to our club after many years.
This overall best Trophy is more special because it was gifted by our club to the district by PP Rtn Bansal & its the 1st time that our Club actually won this. Our Past Presidents must have been smiling finally whereever they are & specifically the Charter Members.
